To achieve these highest goals of university education,
the project is made up of 3 components: |

Setting up a Bookworm Club for university students providing coordinated activities
and incentive schemes to encourage students to read with pleasure, to learn
and to deepen their knowledge as they engage in lifelong learning; |
|
Collaborating with university teachers to develop curricular and instructional
courseware that addresses specific pedagogical needs for the teaching of
problem-solving and critical thinking skills; |
|
Creatively deploying Videoconferencing and NetMeeting facilities to extend learning
beyond the classroom to engage students in intellectual discussions and exchanges
with students and scholars in other institutions as well as those outside
of Hong Kong to help cultivate an international outlook for analysing problems
from a cross-cultural perspective |

The
project is coordinated and managed by the Teaching
and Learning Centre, Lingnan University in collaboration
with the counterpart units in the Hong Kong Baptist
University, Hong Kong Institute of Education and Hong
Kong University of Science and Technology. A teaching
development grant of HK$4.9m was awarded by the UGC
to implement this project for three years.
